Happy Camera and Waffle Iron Day!!!!!

So I am a little crazy, but it truly is National Camera and Waffle Iron Day today.  I feel it is necessary to celebrate such special holidays.  Vintage waffle irons and cameras are a lot of fun since they have evolved so much over the decades and can be a range of fanciful to plain and functional.  Of course along with the distinguishing look for the time period you need to make note of the safety features that the vintage and antique electronics lack.  When purchasing vintage items that you must plug in, it would be best to only collect and not use or to have them professionally modified to meet today's safety standards prior to use.  I hope you enjoy my finds.  I know that I enjoyed looking for these items.

Childhood Reminisce ~ Happy Birthday Captain Kangaroo

http://www.etsy.com/shop/postcardsintheattic?ref=si_shop
A whimsical Print found in ETSY Shop Duck and Cover Shop at
 http://www.etsy.com/shop/DuckandCoverShop?ref=seller_info
Today is Captain Kangaroo's birthday! Unfortunately many of our younger generations will never know the kind spirit of his television show.
This wonderful Vintage Puzzle was found in ETSY Shop, Pam's Craft, at
http://www.etsy.com/shop/pamscrafts7631?ref=seller_info

The Captain Kangaroo Show truly taught a message that was wholesome and did not include bodily functions. Don't get me wrong I enjoy a good Sponge Bob episode just like the next kid but I do get an intense feeling of nostalgia when I think of his show along with the old version of Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers.
A wonderful little piece of
Memorabilia handmade by ETSY Shop The Maitland's at
This very creative piece of work was found on ETSY Shop Eisner Art at
http://www.etsy.com/shop/EisnerArt?ref=seller_info
As a child I hated to hear adults say "the world is certainly a different place" or "you live in a different world..." but now I find myself thinking those exact statements today. I am sure that the new "normal" is perfectly fine for this upcoming generation; I just miss the days when we were easily entertained by a Muppet or a moose with ping pong balls falling on his head.
I still love little Lamb Chop.  This sweet little creature can be found in ETSY Shop GatorMom13 at http://www.etsy.com/shop/gatormom13?ref=seller_info
This early Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop Golden Book was found on ETSY shop Apple Charlotte
http://www.etsy.com/shop/AppleCharlotte?ref=seller_info
So in honor of Captain Kangaroo let’s travel back in time and celebrate childhood innocence and public broadcasting. XOXOXO~PBS and Children's Television.

Postcards In The Attic - New Listings

Finally, I have had some time to list a few new items. It has been so crazy busy lately but a good busy. I'm flying home today for a couple days and I will be off again on another trip. Thank you very much for sticking with me, I am almost through my training so I will be able to be more active again.

1.  France
A beautiful postcard with an image of a man rowing a boat on the water ways near a mill. The caption says "Le Mans. - L'Huisne au Moulin du Gue de Maulny. - LL" "A La Civette" is found in the lower right corner. It is the name of a famous cigar shop in paris, so I believe that is where this card was sold or at least was to promote the shop. The cigar shop has been around since the 1700's.

2.  Barcelona
I love this card it show such details of the everyday city life in Spain around a hundred years ago. There are people dressed in clothes of the period, horse and buggy, and it shows the cobble stone street. It is truly beautiful.

3.  Midievil Craffe Gateway
This beautiful postcard shows the amazing Porte De La Craffe the remnants of the Midievil building that served as a prison during the revolution and was built in the 14th century. It is in Grand Rue the oldest city

4. Town Hall, Northampton England
Another beautiful postcard; real photo with a rich sienna color from the early 1900's showing the Town Hall in Northampton England. It shows the ornate details of the building and the cobble stone roads.

5. California Redwoods

I'm Leaving On A Jet Plane...Almost. But Here Are My Top Dream Vacations Anyways

So I'm stuck in the airport waiting for a broken plane. It is especially disappointing since I have been away from my Husband for a week and was really looking forward to getting home. I will officially have been without sleep for 24 hours. I want to go home!!!! Anyway I still love to travel.
This wonderful vintage postcard was found in ETSY Shop Smooth Sea's Vintage Eclectia
http://www.etsy.com/shop/smoothseas?ref=seller_info
Most everyone I know has had dreams of grand vacations and trips to lands far away. As I have mentioned in prior posts the root of my travel bug stems from looking at the postcards I was given as a child. One of my childhood dreams was Disney Land.
This wonderful Wall Hanging was found in ETSY Shop GreenPix at
http://www.etsy.com/shop/greenpix?ref=seller_info
Not only did I have the postcards with brightly colored images of wild rides and characters but I had the Mickey Mouse Club.
These wonderful vintage dolls can be found in ETSY Shop Jovelin B at
http://www.etsy.com/people/jovelinb?ref=ls_profile
I wanted to be a Mouseketeer so bad. Needless to say I was never featured on that show, but I have been blessed to have seen both Disney World and Disney Land.
A wonderful piece of Mickey Mouse Club history found in ETSY Shop RareVinyl at
http://www.etsy.com/people/rarevinyl?ref=ls_profile
Now I sit here still dreaming of my grand adventures and since I was able to fill that childhood dream of Disney Land I have high hopes that my others will come true too. So here is to dreams and faraway lands...My Top Five Dream Vacations...
Number 1 - Baden Baden Germany - Land of my ancestors; home of my Grandfather.
From my personal collection of Antique Postcards
Number 2 - Africa - In a book by Carl Jung (a brilliant psychologist from the early 1900's) he writes about a trip to Kenya, Uganda and other parts of East Africa. While traveling with a nomadic tribe through the Savannah after a while he felt time stands still. There were no deadlines, no clocks to tell you that you were late just the sun. They rose and retired with the sun. As I watch my life speed pass I would love to have that moment where time stands still.
This and many other amazing photographs are available in ETSY Shop Sam Clark Photography at
http://www.etsy.com/people/samclarkphotography?ref=ls_profile
Number 3 - Viterbo Italy - I graduated from Viterbo University. The University of Viterbo has a rich history of its own and was given the name Viterbo as a tribute to the home country of the Franciscan Sisters that founded the school. The city also has a beautiful and rich history. While there I would include a visit to the traditional American travel favorites of Florence and Rome.
This amazing print can be found in ETSY Shop Italian Pop at
http://www.etsy.com/people/ItalianPop?ref=ls_profile
Number 4 - The Macy's Parade in New York - My husband's and my favorite movie (even before we met each other) has been the Christmas classic, Miracle on 34th Street. I have always wanted to watch the Macy's Parade from a hotel window or balcony.
This wonderful find can be purchased in ETSY Shop Cross Eyed Cat Gifts at
http://www.etsy.com/people/CrossEyedCatGifts?ref=ls_profile
Number 5 - Cape Cod - As a teen my family would watch Murder She Wrote. It also seemed to be a trend to write mystery books in that same setting. I was a big fan of Mary Higgins Clark and one of her first books was written with the Cape as the setting.
This wonderful Oil Painting can be found in ETSY Shop RussPotak at
http://www.etsy.com/people/RussPotak?ref=ls_profile
I would love to hear from you about your Dream Vacation, please make a comment with a note of where you dream to go. I may blog about the top 5 favorites if at least 5 people comment. So spread the word. Have a wonderful and peaceful night.

You are here...Atlanta Georgia

I have been blessed with a short trip to the beautiful city of Atlanta, Georgia as part of my training for my new position.  I have a few minutes of down time and thought I would visit a minute and collect a treasure trove representing this fine city and state.  Plus the power keeps flickering off and on due to the storm and my notebook battery if keeping me occupied.
Postcard featured is found at
http://www.etsy.com/listing/69671394/postcard-president-and-mrs-jimmy-carter
This beautiful state is rich in history and home of our 39th president, Jimmy Carter.  Jimmy Carter was born in Plains, Georgia that holds an annual Peanut Festival.  Sounds like a lot of fun to me!
This wonderful piece of memorabilia can be found in ETSY Shop
The Dish Dash Kitchen Co.
 http://www.etsy.com/shop/DishDashKitchenCo?ref=seller_info

Along with the great history I have always love the architecture of Atlanta and the state's lush trees when visiting this part of the country.

Home Sweet Home...Central CA We Have Survived and Arrived!!

So we spent last Friday morning finishing packing up and headed out the door.  I was pretty confident that "I Got This" when we pulled away with our 26 foot long U haul...but after we added an additional trailer I started to wonder...
I was OK with this (drove a truck before)

Drove with a trailer before (OK)

<><>
But never drove both together before.....Yikes!!!  7 parking spaces long and have to go down a mountain
So Thank the Lord my husband, Terry, decided to take on the challenge.  And for any of his family and friends that would never believe he would drive a 26' Uhaul and trailer down a mountain...He did and did it well (Since I'm typing you know I made it alive)

So Goodbye Mountain...
Going....

Going....

Going....

1 Gone .... A few more mountains to go...

Goodbye
Terry also drove through Sacramento like a pro.  I am so proud:)
We had to stop in Ripon Cal and took a short pit stop; it was wonderful to see the palms again and feel the warm air.

<> <>
Very nice place, great staff and reasonable rates:)

We hit the road again early Saturday morning, my turn to drive but we made it to Fresno in one piece.

We have landed and are very happy to be back; now we just need to unpack and set up again.  What an adventure:)  One that I hope to never have to do again.

I can't wait to visit Yosemite again...
