Valentine's Day Gift Tags - New Listings

http://www.etsy.com/listing/90589873/digital-valentines-day-cards-6-inch-x-6
Good morning everyone.  I just wanted to post some of my new listings and a couple of older ones that are perfect for Valentine's Day.  I hope you like them.  I love the creativity and flexibilty of paper crafting; mixing old with new.  What fun!  and I think they turned out rather pretty, if I don't say so myself:)

Interview With A Quiet Mind ~ Fine Art ~ Jewelry

Nothing feels better than the weight of jewelry made with real gems and minerals; I have an obsession with handcrafted jewelry.  It has an energy about it that can not found in manufactured pieces.   Often I find people admiring my jewelry and wondering where I was able to find such a piece beauty.  I love being original and setting the trends; especial when I know that my jewelry has been handcrafted by a true artist.

I have had the pleasure to interview Brian Harrison, owner of Quiet Mind, who creates such beautiful pieces of art.  He has graciously offered a 20% off coupon code: BUTTERFLY.  Please stop by Brian's shop and take a look at his exquisit inventory.

Tell me a bit about yourself……
I am a self-representing artist living in Phoenix, AZ. I have been driven to create all my life working with different material and techniques over the years. These days I am making a lot of jewelry. From prayer beads in the Buddhist tradition, a line of Day of the Dead skull and skeleton jewelry and other jewelry from precious and semi precious stones and minerals. I do all my artwork with intention for the benefit of all living beings.
http://www.etsy.com/shop/QuietMind?section_id=7446771&page=2
Apart from creating, what do you do?
I love to garden and pond, I have a few 100 gallon pond with koi and goldfish and a jungle like garden on my patio. I have 3 pet birds 2 conures and a lovebird. I love to take road trips into the deserts of AZ finding remote peaceful places to contemplate.

What first made you want to create?
I’ve made stuff all my life, it is an innate desire for me. I don’t know where it first began.

Describe your creative process?
Much of my work is spontaneous and intuitive. Painting, working in mixed media and making jewelry most ideas are spontaneous with a little conscious thought here and there. When I am making a piece I try to flow with the energy.

What handmade possession do you cherish most?
I have some very old hand hammered Tibetan singing bowls, I’d have to say those.

What one piece of information would you like to know from experienced etsy sellers?
How to generate more sales!

How are you promoting your work?
I list some of my work to Etsy and use a lot of social media. I post to Facebook, use Twitter and Flickr, write a blog and have just started using Tumblr. Locally I am a member of a new art cooperative - Indie ArtHouse, and have my Day of the Dead jewelry represented by Galeria de los Muertos in downtown Phoenix.

Where do you want to be in ten years?
Doing what I am doing now. If I can still be making a living off my art work in 10 years I will be very happy!

Meeting Dolly Madison An Amazing Young Artist

I found Dolly Madison while surfing ETSY and fell in love with her sweet little buttons and characters.  She is a very talented young lady and has been very kind to do an interview for us.
Her lovely little shop is also featuring a special discount, 5% off with coupon code BIRRCASTLE.  Please check out the interview and Dolly's wonderful creations.

Tell me a bit about yourself……
I'm sixteen years old, and I love to work with my hands, writing, reading, and crafting. My main focus of crafting is my Etsy shop, where I sell polymer clay items, mostly buttons, but also little decorative bears (mostly custom orders for those). :) I began working with polymer clay when I was eleven, and I opened my Etsy shop in May of 2010.

Apart from creating, what do you do?
Dear me, it depends on the day! I love to read, and I have several subjects that I pay most attention to, one of which is history. I'm a genealogist, and I love to find out about my ancestors! I found lots of Irish way back there, and so I now have what you could almost call a 'hobby', finding old Irish songs and artists. I love to buy books (that's mainly what I spend my Etsy profit on) that I can feel satisfied handing down to my children and grandchildren. I desire to glorify God, and as my motto says "To enlarge the glory of the gospel!" (quote from Richard Hakluyt, puritan).

What first made you want to create?
I'm just a creative person, I suppose. :) I've been crafting as long as I can remember, and when my grandparents gave me some polymer clay one time, I immediately latched on to it and began making rather crude figures. It wasn't till April that I found my Etsy niche, which is specialty buttons. I had one set that had been custom ordered, and didn't sell, so I listed them anyway. Then I began attending BNRs and BNSs on Etsy (a selling spree system, Buy and Replace and Buy and Stay, where someone buys your item in a treasury and then they in turn get featured in your spot), and my buttons sold, and re-sold, and sold again........ Ever since then, my button making has taken off, which is really nice. But it's funny that the thing that sells best for me is the thing that I never meant to make in the first place.

Describe your creative process?
It depends on the situation. Sometimes I just sit down with my clay and start making buttons without a goal in mind or even a conceived notion as to how I want them to be---I just pick out a few colors that all the sudden stand out to me and run with it. That is always a fun process. Other times I know exactly what I want, and I fall to making them......or they turn out completely different from what I wanted. It's an adventure, and it's a very fun one. :)

How are you promoting your work?
I don't have many ways of promoting yet. Mostly I attend BNRs and that really gets the word out because it's always a great crowd and great publicity. Otherwise just getting to know folks on Etsy is a great way to get business. :) Hearting other folks' items and shops have brought me several sales, not to mention hearts and circles (Now I have switched to Etsy lingo, haven't I? ;)

Where do you want to be in ten years?
The problem to me is getting too busy. Etsy is the only source of income I have right now, and I'm not really able to devote all of my time to it. So to answer your question, I don't know if I shall be around on Etsy in ten years. :) Since I am just beginning to get sales, I will have to see if it turns out to be something I want to pursue in earnest, and if the profit is worth the effort. But I intend to have a steady income by then from some sort of home business. :)

Meet the Members of ETSY's Pacific Postcards Team Part 2 of 2

Continued from part 1....Often I have found postcards that were very difficult find information on. I also have noticed that there is no longer a Postcard Collector's Magazine in publication and very few true informational sites on the internet. In hopes of consolidating the vast ephemera knowledge found on ETSY and to tap into my fellow postcard collector's & designer's enthusiasm I started the Pacific Postcards Team. I would like to use today's post to introduce the current members of the team (including myself) and a small sample of each of their shops.

"Hello. Thank you for visiting. MagisPlace really began 40 years ago when the collector's itch hit. Everything from postcards to primitive furniture, many of which I personally restored.

When the internet became a household word, I fell in love with computer graphics and offered web designs and graphics on a Christian website for 13 years. After retirement, it was a natural transition to combine my love for vintage antiques and creating graphics into an online store offering web designs and restored graphics with great emphasis placed on detail.

We take pride in the commercial quality images created and offered here at MagisPlace. A great deal of time is spent on each individual item with a unique restoration/repainting process that truly produces beautiful images before being endorsed by us. We offer 100% guaranteed satisfaction with all of our...  "

"I love collecting and selling Florida postcards and meeting so many different people on Etsy who also share a fondness for Florida.

Vintage postcards can bring back so many fond memories. I remember as a child the many summers my mom, grandmother, brothers and I would visit tourist attractions that are no longer there. Stopping at a Mom and Pop stand along the way for a cool ice cream cone. Then after a long day of sight seeing we would spend the night at one of the old motels along the way. I remember riding through the Orange Groves and smelling the fragrance of so many orange blossoms! So many pleasant and fond memories of a Florida in the 50's and 60's, and even earlier.

I hope you will enjoy browsing through the many postcards I have listed. I hope they will bring back fond memories for you too!"

"I have been collecting various items for years. I started collecting political items in 1964 when I was a few years old and my grandmother went to a national convention. Later I started looking for the Gurley choir candles that were displayed every year at Christmas. After that I started collecting pepsi and other character glasses. Through the years I have expanded all these areas and more. I have hundreds of holiday decorations, several hundred gurley candles, a couple hundred cartoon glasses and many other items. I also love the old childrens books, and have a couple

I also collect local and family history. I have written a book on Lantry, SD. The photo you see on my home page is my great grandparents huge sod house. The other photo I use is the original Lantry, SD train depot

I am a mother and grandmother.
I love history and anything in the photographic realm and often have the greatest joy in taking a photo to a higher level such as printing an original image onto watercolor paper or canvas and painting over it. Everything in my store was at one time a photograph but where it ends up can often be a series of experimentation and mixed media. This is because my other love besides photography is painting and I really cannot stop myself from often combining the two arts.

I have been collecting and selling antique French postcards since 2003. I bought my first batch of 50 postcards from a dealer in Isle sur la Sorgue in southern France in July, 2003. I have been hooked ever since. I haven't counted every single one, but I have close to 10,000 postcards. As the French would say: that's beaucoup de cartes postales! Most of my cards are pre-1914, from the "golden age" of postcards. But I also love the bright colors and designs of the Art Deco 1920s and 1930s postcards. So please look through my shop and check out these "little Van Goghs" -- precious works of.."

Isabell's Umbrella grew from an obsession with stationery, writing instruments and design. Ashley Giessing, owner/artist, believes she should have been born in the nineteenth century, when all correspondence was done by hand.

Highlights of her childhood include drawing, making little notes and stationery for her little brother and older sisters, and the monthly letters she would receive from her dear Grandma Sweetie.

It was when Ashley first entered the design field that she that she began dreaming about creating her own line of stationery. Four years later, Ashley took that leap -- opening Isabell's Umbrella in January of 2008. She looks to the future and growth of Isabell’s Umbrella with a plan for success..."

"WELCOME TO THE FUZZY LOBSTER'S INLET (the Etsy online store for The Fuzzy Lobster, LLC.)!
I have been collecting various items for the last thirty-eight years or so. As a young child, my parents shared their love of books and music with me and so at an early age, I started collecting books, music, music-related items, ephemera and for a time, comics. My parents also passed on a love of traveling and an interest in other regions, cultures and bygone eras. As I grew older, I moved several times and began to travel a lot and my nomadic lifestyle spurred my own interest in the same, and added a depth and breadth to my collecting that continues to this day.

My interests are extremely varied and it shows in what I collect and what I choose to sell to my customers. It was an easy transition to go from "just collecting," to becoming a seller. With my move to New England in 2008, I decided to... "
