A Friend of A Friend

This morning before I had a chance to have my coffee I met a new friend of a friend.  Apparently on the way to work my coworker crossed paths with a wonderful little creature.  The funny thing was, just like many other Californians, he was an actor.

"I really don't see the resemblance though"

Stuck in his part he was convinced that he was, indeed, a lobster.  No matter how much I tried to reason with him he insisted and even though I knew that he was a crayfish I finally conceded that yes he did resemble the Red Lobster .

A wonderful souvenir pin found on ETSY Shop Haywood Creektures at
http://www.etsy.com/shop/haywoodcreektures?ref=seller_info

He could hold a lovely note and recited a rich Shakespearean poem but alas he was still just a crayfish.

This wonderful book was found on ETSY Shop The Retro Cookbook Shop at

This sweet, funny little town was found on ETSY Shop A Bit A Creativity at

After a bit my lovely new friend waved good bye promising to keep in touch.

Bye....

Postcards In The Attic - New Listings

Finally, I have had some time to list a few new items. It has been so crazy busy lately but a good busy. I'm flying home today for a couple days and I will be off again on another trip. Thank you very much for sticking with me, I am almost through my training so I will be able to be more active again.

1.  France
A beautiful postcard with an image of a man rowing a boat on the water ways near a mill. The caption says "Le Mans. - L'Huisne au Moulin du Gue de Maulny. - LL" "A La Civette" is found in the lower right corner. It is the name of a famous cigar shop in paris, so I believe that is where this card was sold or at least was to promote the shop. The cigar shop has been around since the 1700's.

2.  Barcelona
I love this card it show such details of the everyday city life in Spain around a hundred years ago. There are people dressed in clothes of the period, horse and buggy, and it shows the cobble stone street. It is truly beautiful.
http://www.etsy.com/listing/76510779/antique-photograph-postcard-street-scene
3.  Midievil Craffe Gateway
This beautiful postcard shows the amazing Porte De La Craffe the remnants of the Midievil building that served as a prison during the revolution and was built in the 14th century. It is in Grand Rue the oldest city

4. Town Hall, Northampton England
Another beautiful postcard; real photo with a rich sienna color from the early 1900's showing the Town Hall in Northampton England. It shows the ornate details of the building and the cobble stone roads.

5. California Redwoods
http://www.etsy.com/listing/76514426/vintage-postcard-california-redwoods
6.  Dutch Windmill
Staining shows darker on this beautiful greeting card than it actually is.  The staining is mild - moderate and the crd is simply lovely.

I'm Leaving On A Jet Plane...Almost. But Here Are My Top Dream Vacations Anyways

So I'm stuck in the airport waiting for a broken plane. It is especially disappointing since I have been away from my Husband for a week and was really looking forward to getting home. I will officially have been without sleep for 24 hours. I want to go home!!!! Anyway I still love to travel.
This wonderful vintage postcard was found in ETSY Shop Smooth Sea's Vintage Eclectia
http://www.etsy.com/shop/smoothseas?ref=seller_info
Most everyone I know has had dreams of grand vacations and trips to lands far away. As I have mentioned in prior posts the root of my travel bug stems from looking at the postcards I was given as a child. One of my childhood dreams was Disney Land.
This wonderful Wall Hanging was found in ETSY Shop GreenPix at
http://www.etsy.com/shop/greenpix?ref=seller_info
Not only did I have the postcards with brightly colored images of wild rides and characters but I had the Mickey Mouse Club.
These wonderful vintage dolls can be found in ETSY Shop Jovelin B at
http://www.etsy.com/people/jovelinb?ref=ls_profile
I wanted to be a Mouseketeer so bad. Needless to say I was never featured on that show, but I have been blessed to have seen both Disney World and Disney Land.
A wonderful piece of Mickey Mouse Club history found in ETSY Shop RareVinyl at
http://www.etsy.com/people/rarevinyl?ref=ls_profile
Now I sit here still dreaming of my grand adventures and since I was able to fill that childhood dream of Disney Land I have high hopes that my others will come true too. So here is to dreams and faraway lands...My Top Five Dream Vacations...
Number 1 - Baden Baden Germany - Land of my ancestors; home of my Grandfather.
From my personal collection of Antique Postcards
Number 2 - Africa - In a book by Carl Jung (a brilliant psychologist from the early 1900's) he writes about a trip to Kenya, Uganda and other parts of East Africa. While traveling with a nomadic tribe through the Savannah after a while he felt time stands still. There were no deadlines, no clocks to tell you that you were late just the sun. They rose and retired with the sun. As I watch my life speed pass I would love to have that moment where time stands still.
This and many other amazing photographs are available in ETSY Shop Sam Clark Photography at
http://www.etsy.com/people/samclarkphotography?ref=ls_profile
Number 3 - Viterbo Italy - I graduated from Viterbo University. The University of Viterbo has a rich history of its own and was given the name Viterbo as a tribute to the home country of the Franciscan Sisters that founded the school. The city also has a beautiful and rich history. While there I would include a visit to the traditional American travel favorites of Florence and Rome.
This amazing print can be found in ETSY Shop Italian Pop at
http://www.etsy.com/people/ItalianPop?ref=ls_profile
Number 4 - The Macy's Parade in New York - My husband's and my favorite movie (even before we met each other) has been the Christmas classic, Miracle on 34th Street. I have always wanted to watch the Macy's Parade from a hotel window or balcony.
This wonderful find can be purchased in ETSY Shop Cross Eyed Cat Gifts at
http://www.etsy.com/people/CrossEyedCatGifts?ref=ls_profile
Number 5 - Cape Cod - As a teen my family would watch Murder She Wrote. It also seemed to be a trend to write mystery books in that same setting. I was a big fan of Mary Higgins Clark and one of her first books was written with the Cape as the setting.
This wonderful Oil Painting can be found in ETSY Shop RussPotak at
http://www.etsy.com/people/RussPotak?ref=ls_profile
I would love to hear from you about your Dream Vacation, please make a comment with a note of where you dream to go. I may blog about the top 5 favorites if at least 5 people comment. So spread the word. Have a wonderful and peaceful night.

The Butterfly Is Officially Moving Tomorrow

I have the truck loaded, the keys turned in and will be hitting the road tomorrow for the new chapter in my life.  I am absolutely excited about this new adventure but unfortunately I have been a little preoccupied as of late and unable to post a whole lot.  But with the change there are some good business things that have come about and I think that all of us can look forward to.

I have decided to add a little more structure to my blog and offer featured shops, a day dedicated to postcards (my love,) I will continue with Aromatherapy Thursday and offer some other fun regular posts to my readers.  So please bare with me while I get relocated and unpacked because I promise the fun has just begun.
Thanks friends...See you Soon!

Meet the Members of ETSY's Pacific Postcards Team Part 1 of 2

Often I have found postcards that were very difficult find information on.  I also have noticed that there is no longer a Postcard Collector's Magazine in publication and very few true informational sites on the internet.  In hopes of consolidating the vast ephemera knowledge found on ETSY and to tap into my fellow postcard collector's & designer's enthusiasm I started the Pacific Postcards Team.  I would like to use today's post to introduce the current members of the team (including myself) and a small sample of each of their shops.

About
"My obsession with Collecting began at age seven, when I went with my Father to the local dump, in those days it was an open pit that the community added their refuse and unwanted items to. My first 'Find' was a plastic bag of fabric scraps, to me it was Treasure. I taught myself to sew by hand little doll clothes for my hand me down dolls.

I come from Humble Beginnings, so Thrift Stores and Garage Sales provided me with every item I needed. For the last thirty years or so I have never left the Treasure Hunt.

My 'Collections' have varied throughout the years, some have been offered for sale on PaperSeeker. I only obtain what I love, guess my thought is that you will Love It Too. I hope you enjoy the Listings, Enjoy the Purchases and I will always be happy to 'Seek' for you as well, all you have to do is Convo me with your desires..."

About
"I am a full-time organic farmer so my day starts early and ends late. My time is spent with my animals and large market garden of heirloom vegetables. Hard, but rewarding work and I wouldn't have it any differently. I do however find time to collect goodies and divest myself of extra items from my collection. I have a large collection of vintage postcards, Victorian Trade cards, stamps, covers and postal stationary as well as books and from time to time craft related material. I hope you will enjoy my offerings.I am a proud member of The EtsyVintageTeam, an organization of Etsy sellers who are passionate about vintage and antiques, as well as items that are handmade with vintage components... "

"Born collector and vintage enthusiast!
Since my student days in vibrant Glasgow, I developed a passion for the vintage and the antique and for the worn and the wretched items of yesteryear.

I visited more vintage shops than classrooms but graduated with a Masters in History of Art. Currently a freelance designer, I have recently decided to move abroad and have to part with a large part of my treasured collection, there is simply no container big enough to transport my decades of antique and vintage finds!

I source my items from vintage fairs, estate sales, markets and elder relatives and their buddies. I have carefully chosen contacts in France and Germany that provide me with authentic vintage lace, millinery and other special items..."

"Hi, I'm Rachael. Nice to meet you :)
So here's a little bit about me:
I went to school in Bridlington and took my gcse's and as-levels in art and film subjects. I then went on to art college where I got my Diploma in Fine Art. After that I went to University and finally got my BA (Hons) degree in Animation. Since then I have been travelling (alot!) and working as a self employed and freelance animator. I now live in Bridlington with my boyfriend and rabbit :)
My hobbies are photography, listening to music, travelling, playing piano and playing sims!

I have lived in or around Bridlington all of my life. Although I get itchy feet alot and love to travel I do like to come home to Brid. It is a beautiful seaside town and many people I care about live here. It is not a place that is central to anything but I find that having the internet makes everthing... "
