Wait A Minute Mister Postman; Postcard Party 18

As holidays come and go I am always shocked at how time flies!  I am not sure when the last time I was truly bored and wished that time would go faster.  Actually I think it must have been when I was pregnant with my son and no longer could see my feet let alone tie my shoes. LOL

I wonder if this is why we were so fascinated with Leap Year; that wonderful year that gives you 1 extra day in February.  But not only was it special because it gave you a little extra time, it was that one year (out of 7) that if you were a girl you didn't have to wait for the gentleman to ask you.  It was the year that many old maids dreamed of proposing and hearing that blessed "yes."

It was joked about; postcards donning images of the plotting lonely maids on the prowel for a husband.  No, not for their one and only true love but basically anyone male and with a pulse.  Other's romanticised it with lovely images of beautiful women appealing to the stars and moon.

I love these postcards depicting a time of patience and faith.  Something that most of us have either forgotten or even never experience in the day and age of cyber dating, texting and IM.  I come from the tail end of the generation that believed that boys were suppose to call you.  How times have changed!

Here are some of my great Antique Postcards celebrating Leap Year!
