Networking Saturday; Link Your Shop or Blog 4

Good morning,
One thing I have noticed while working on networking for my online shop is the number of people who are very passive.  By passive I am looking how the person manages there business not per se their personality.  If you are merely online to show off a hobby it may be fine to wait for people to come to you (although I am too impatient for this all together.)  But if you are here to actually create a successful business this approach will not work.

According to PandoDaily, Etsy has 800,000 active sellers, in 2006 Ebay report 1.3 Million (yes MILLION) sellers (from OrdoroBlog) and Amazon has 1.6 Million Sellers (data from 2009.)  These stats don't even include other online business such as Artfire, Zibbet, independent Ecommerce, on and on...  What does this mean?!  It means that picking our shop would be like asking our potential customers to choose their favorite grain of sand on the beach. Or if you are a visual learner ...

If you have any great networking opportunities you would like me to feature please contact me directly at ButterflyInTheAttic at yahoo dot com or post the information in the comments section.  I will add it to next week's post.

So now a little homework; think about how you are going to use networking to your advantage. What are the barriers that keeps you from networking? Mine? right now mine is time and since I have to work in an hour my barrier has just become a block. So without further introduction here is our great opportunity to network with each other now. Please Join me :)

Dear Colleen,
I think you make some excellent points here! Thank you for working so hard with the limited time that you have to create networking opportunities for small businesses such as ours!

Wishing you a wonderful and successful day!
