As a child, it was scenes from postcards like this one that had me hooked on travel and specifically the desert:

Dear Colleen,
Thank you again for hosting your fun Linky Party and for featuring one of my collage sheets!! It's very sweet of you!
Being a lover of flowers myself, I really love both of the postcards you have posted today. I only visited the desert Southwest once, but it was in the springtime and I have to say that the vivid purples of the cacti and the gorgeous chartreuse hues of the mesa verde trees captivated me! But I know, that like you, I would so miss my pansies, nasturtiums and lilies of the valley! They are just as beautiful, but in such a different way.
Wishing you a great rest of your day and thank you again!
Betty
