Flashback Thursday; Life In America - The 1970s

I was born in August of 1970 so I have some memory of this era.  I remember gas prices rising to unbelievable highs and seeing cars lined out into to the streets waiting to fuel up ( some running out before reaching the pumps.)  I also remember bell bottoms (I thought they were stupid,) glitter on Tee Shirts, The Lemon, Pop Rocks and that life seemed so much simpler.

The US ended their involvement in the Vietnam War in 1973 and by 1975 the war had ended.  The Baby Boom also ended around this same time; families previous had consisted of mom, dad and Five children were now at a conservative 2.8 children per family.

It was a great time to be a kid, we had colored TVs and Shows like The Sha Na Nas, a music show, and Happy Days, a quirky fun sitcom with my hunky Fonz as the main character.

We had the latest and greatest music technology in our homes:  45s & 8 track tapes, and we had the Beetles.

Feminism was peaking and it was common for girls to dress in pants if you were lucky

Since I was a small child during the 70s my memories are viewed through Rose Colored Glasses but I do believe we had a great time.

Thank you for featuring our Happy Day's print, we're in England so it's interesting to see what memories we have in common - I think The Fonz is universally loved!
