As a child growing up on the island of Borneo, I developed a lifelong passion and respect for the environment. When I was first diagnosed with ocular histoplasmosis syndrome (OHS) in 1991, I sought peace and strength through countless hours of solitary walking in parkland, by the seashore and working in the garden. Through significant central vision loss and the ongoing threat of blindness, I continue to find much comfort in Nature.

"I started taking pictures with a small 16 mm spy camera when I was a kid. I enjoy experimenting with different cameras (such as pinhole cameras and old cameras) and getting involved in the process, like processing my film manually. However, I believe that the type of camera used and the developing process takes second place to the subject matter of the photograph. Photography, in my opinion, should either evoke some sort of emotional response or contain an element of humor. Some of my photographs are taken while traveling, but some of the most interesting photographs can be taken on your desk or in your neighborhood. In my work, I try to find hidden meanings in normal, everyday things or give roles to inanimate objects.
