Grandma's Crayon Can on Flashback Thursday

Visiting my Grandmother on the farm was exciting until I got there.   I could wait to see her but farming is a demanding job so I was expected to entertain myself, Heaven Forbid. My family's go-to as soon as the words "I'm Bored" came from my lips was to color.  Easy to store, usually not messy, a perfect way to get a kid to sit for a minute.

Of course I was less thrilled when the can of crayons was set in front of me.  No organization, no perfect rows of a Crayola rainbow, no just a giant coffee can of nubs and rejected crayons collected over summers past.  Once I got over the insult I started to enjoy my project and actually found a few treasured whole crayons.  Coloring with Grandma's crayon can has become one of my most cherished memories of life on the farm and my hardworking grandmother.
