It has been said that the Library will be a thing of the past as people become more reliant on the internet for their information. But I am hoping that this is not true. Libraries offer much more to their visitors than just free internet and books. There are reading programs, family nights, book sales and so much more community related activities. One thing that the internet will never be able to replace is the human connections.

I have some of my best memories from the library. Looking up the index cards, hunting for that special book, writing my name on the check out card, somewhat sad that this is an experience our children will never have. Even by the time I had my kids the indexes had already been digitized. Ask someone under 25 what the Dewey Decimal System was and they would not have the slightest idea or it would be something they read about.
