About Me

Welcome to Butterfly in the Attic

Hello, and welcome. I’m so glad you found your way here.

Butterfly in the Attic grew from my love of creativity, nature, old paper, photography, watercolor, storytelling, and the simple pleasure of making things by hand. I have always been drawn to the little things that seem to carry a story with them—flowers and butterflies, handwritten notes, worn book pages, forgotten objects, vintage treasures, and the unexpected things waiting to be rediscovered.

Over the years, my creative interests have taken me in many directions. I paint, photograph, design, collect, craft, write, and experiment with whatever happens to capture my imagination. My work has included watercolor and digital art, photography, paper crafts and junk journals, handmade pieces, vintage-inspired creations, and storytelling—including the world of my children’s character, Oliver the Otter.

Butterfly in the Attic became a way to bring all of those interests together under one roof.

Come Explore the Attic

I like to imagine Butterfly in the Attic as an old attic filled with rooms, shelves, drawers, boxes, and trunks just waiting to be explored.

Some drawers hold original artwork. Others might contain vintage treasures, creative supplies, handmade pieces, journal ephemera, photographs, or something entirely unexpected.

That's part of the fun.

Here on the blog, I'll be opening those drawers a little at a time—sharing creative projects, tutorials, artisan finds, vintage treasures, collections, inspiration, stories from behind the scenes, and whatever else I discover along the way.

There will always be another corner of the Attic to explore.

Creativity Doesn't Have to Fit in One Box

One of the things I've learned through the years is that creativity doesn't always follow a straight path.

Sometimes inspiration begins with a paintbrush. Sometimes it's an old piece of paper, a photograph, a forgotten object at a flea market, a garden flower, or an idea that simply refuses to leave you alone.

I believe those different forms of creativity can live happily together.

Butterfly in the Attic is my place for exactly that—a home for the things I create, the treasures I discover, the stories I want to tell, and the ideas I hope might inspire someone else to make something of their own.

Stay Awhile

Whether you're an artist, crafter, journal maker, collector, gardener, paper lover, treasure hunter, storyteller, or simply someone who enjoys beautiful old things and a bit of creative wandering, I hope you'll feel at home here.

Look around. Open a drawer. Explore a collection. Try a tutorial. Discover something unexpected.

And please come back from time to time.

You never know what might turn up in the Attic.
