It is becoming increasingly challenging to not only get sales from sites like Etsy but to even get promoted. A while back parties that would "like" your item if you "liked" theirs worked well. It increased your items visibility in general and increased the popularity of your item in the eye of Etsy thus increasing your rank. But that again has changed and is no longer an effective use of time.
What Etsy and other similar sites are tracking now are how frequently an item or shop is searched for then "liked."
This sales search party will be patterned after our Twitter Tree format. In order for the linkup to be effective participants must follow the instructions in detail. There are only a few rules:
- All Participants must Search and Like (or equivalent depending on the site) all other participants' items & shop
- Limited to 1 shop link and 3 item links
- Post Short Links for your items only (if you are not sure what this means use my links as an example)
- While I would love to have an actual linkup to post pictures I am not going to. I am afraid that if I should people will click on those instead of searching.
- The Search Party ends at Midnight tonight and all items/shops must be searched and "liked" before noon tomorrow.

I'll give this a try. Another thing, however, is that you need to keep the link open for at least 20-30 seconds for a good "time spent on page." Anything less than that, Google might penalize.

Thanks! Caught up through Colleen.
To go back to my comment above: if you don't keep the link open for at least 20-30 seconds, it negatively affects your bounce rate. Was having a senior moment and couldn't remember "bounce rate" - LOL!
thanks so much for participating. I am going to add that tidbit to the rules I had just forgot about that so I am glad you mentioned it. I will be scheduling this for thursdays I think closer to payday will be better and it doesn't seem like anyone is promoting at that time.
I am finished through yours and will check back in the morning in case anyone else joins :)
have a great night

So I have a silly question. How do you "like" on Indiemade?
I tweeted so far in case there isn't a way but I will go back if there is :)
Not silly at all. There are no likes on Indiemade, Colleen. Each shop there is a stand-alone site, not like Etsy or ArtFire or some of the others. Thanks for the promo!
Darn, missed this week. I will try to be faster next week. :)
We will be moving this party to Thursdays :)
