There is something about this time of year that makes me want to slow down and notice the little things.
The warmer colors.
A favorite cup of coffee.
Leaves beginning to change.
A notebook waiting for a new idea.
And those first little touches of autumn appearing around the house.
Fall always seems to bring me back to creating.
Sometimes that means working on a new piece of art. Sometimes it means making a journal, sorting through old papers and supplies, or simply writing down an idea before it disappears.
And sometimes, creativity can be as simple as noticing something beautiful.
Lately, my worktable has been filling up with pumpkins, sunflowers, warm oranges, faded greens, old-fashioned Halloween characters, and all those wonderful colors that make this season feel so cozy.
I think that may be one of my favorite things about creating through the seasons. Each one brings its own little collection of colors, memories, and stories with it.
So today, there isn't a big project or tutorial.
Just a little reminder to make room for something creative this week—even if it's only for a few minutes.
Pull out an old journal.
Write down a memory.
Cut up some pretty paper.
Sketch something.
Take a photograph.
Or simply sit with a cup of something warm and dream about what you might make next.
Sometimes that's where the best ideas begin.
