I've been working on my SEO project for a few weeks, I am purposely dedicating time to learning and using seos in my sites.

While I had seos in my blog, I realize that I didn't have effective ones.  I like to tell stories, so my focus was on telling you about my life, my shop and just basically about me but I was not thinking about my key words, let alone looking them up to see where they stand in frequency of searches.

So during this last week I have been forcing myself to use the tips and information I have read on creating effective seos.  The keyword planner in Google Adwords has been absolutely necessary in finding my keywords.

To use it you add the word or words that best describes your post or item, next give them the url to your site.  Then you pick categories that it would fit into; for items you are selling it is easier but for blog posts you might want to start out more general.  Click "Get Ideas" it will generate a list of words that have been used in searches.  Choose the ones that best fit your item or topic that has the highest number of searches.

If you find that the word/s you chose have very few searches, think of a different one, make sure it still describes your post/item, and then get ideas from that search.  It will get easier the more you use it.  I don't want to  make this post long so if you have questions add them to the comment section and we can address specifics.  Or please add any experience you have had on this subject.

Even though at first it seemed a daunting task, it really isn't so bad and I think it has been paying off.  Unfortunately I have been fighting with Google Domain which drastically affected my stats so I don't have clean data to rely on.  But it still looks like using appropriate seos has helped my stats aside from the huge dip when I tried to add my own domain (argh!)

My next project is to work on Etsy which is a bit more challenging since I need to reconstruct most of my listings.  Next week I will share some great information on seos for Etsy that was posted on a FB group I belong to.  It was a very helpful post and hopefully I will have some happy stats to share with you as a result.

Thank you and have a blessed day!

Today I am basically just going to piggyback onto last week's post about SEOs.  I receive tons of spammy-like emails  (I say "like" because I have signed up for them but they come in droves) about online business, technology, SEOs, eCommerce, etc. so when I get really busy they tend to end up in the trash bin with having only  glanced at them.

But lately I have been working hard at increasing my knowledge of SEOs so they are getting more than just a glance.  I have found that often with tough subjects you just have to keep reading, looking etc. and one day the light bulb turns on.  This worked for Statistics and Stoicheometry so I am telling myself it will work for SEOs.

WebCEO offers to analyze your site to see where you rank, how your effective your SEOs are, help you build the strength and health of your site and much more.  The best part? it is free!  The free version does offer you a lot of information so it is worth the time invested.

At this point I am impressed at all the information I have derived from the site and would recommend trying it if you are struggling with understanding SEOs as I have been.

Thank you and have a blessed day!

I have to admit that SEOs still confuse the heck out of me.  But the reality is, I need to earn more about them and so do you if you have a blog or eCommerce site.  I will not fake some extensive knowledge or profound information but what I will do is provide you a few links that I found extremely useful for us laymen.

The first sight is a blog that lays out the basics from Google's guide on SEOs but in a language most of us can easily digest .  www.techrepublic.com.  This article goes over how to create them and gives some links to use for checking the health of your site, etc.

Also, I just learned that there is such a thing as Negative SEOs.  We all know that for years companies (large and small) have used bogus social media accounts, blogs, etc to inflate their followers and interactions to make it seem that they are more important to the public than they truly are.  Why?  because it pushes their sites to the top of Google's search.  Unfortunately while Google tries to protect the user from bogus sites it may mean we get a red flag too without even knowing what we did.  Sometimes we did nothing and can be blocked because other's are either "helping us" or intentionally hacking into our accounts and creating redirects among other things.

Sites for Viagra, payday loans, porn etc. maybe creating page redirects we don't even know about.  Of course there are ways to monitor this and in another great post I found a few links to tools for this.  The nice thing, not only does the tools help monitor for intrusive sites and content but it can help me in monitoring some other stats. Reading this post was very helpful  http://moz.com/blog/preparing-for-negative-seo

Unfortunately for many of us (maybe most) our shops and blogs are not our only jobs.  We start out with this great idea and are inspired to go for our dreams and then find that everywhere we turn problems and more things we never would have thought we needed.  Since we do not have a large marketing staff or developers at our fingertips we will need to rely on good ole fashioned team work.  So please post any tips or links that you have found essential for your online health.

Thank you and have a blessed day!
