It is a little off my normal subject but I thought this would be a lot of fun.  I stumbled on a Mini-series called Fresno with Carol Burnett and many other stars.  I never even knew it was made but after watching it for a little bit I realized that I think I seen this as a kid.  I hope you enjoy this little YouTube Clip of the spoof Mini-series "Fresno"

Happy First Day Of Autumn

Happy first day of Autumn!  I love the changing seasons, it always promises something new and exciting around each corner.   Every quarter I announce _______ is my favorite season, but I have come to the conclusion that they all are my favorites and I love each for their colors, holidays, traditions, and fond memories specific to that time of year.  With winter only tying the others because of Christmas.

Now that I live in California and don't have to fight the frigid cold I love Fall and Winter even more.  Yes we have the change of seasons.  But one large difference for us in the Central Valley is that we don't have to freeze our back sides off to go view the changing colors and they are a bit later in the year than in other states.  Starting towards the end of October-November the leaves will change to display their brilliance along side the traditional California Palms.  Here are a few pictures from last years show:

So Glad To Be Back Home in Fresno

Sorry for the long silence but as my day job is what supports my family I must go when I need to go.  Although I didn't find the time to take a single picture of Austin, TX I believe that my business trip was a great success.  The team and I were able to complete what we were sent to do and I met some wonderful people.  When I have to work long hours it is so nice to be working with people that you genuinely like. 

Austin was a bit cold for my taste and I am so glad to be back in Fresno.  As I write this blog I have the window open slightly with the cool breeze gently flowing.  I noticed yesterday that many trees are in full bloom.  A sign to me that I made it through the winter and spring is here or near.  For this reason I love living in CA; I can remember getting a beautiful day in the Midwest only to be greeted with a blast of Arctic air the very next.  My mother would say "you should know better, you have 3 more months until it stays warm."  Well now, overall, winter is over already and the sunny warmth that greeted me yesterday will be here again today. 

Not that living in the Midwest is terrible but for me I just can't stand the cold.  The winters are harsh and makes for a lot of extra work.  Some people are just made with a broken thermostat and I am one of them.  So at last I can struggle through a couple of months of winter and when spring comes I know that there will not be those little teases found in the Wisconsin spring. 

I believe that the old saying that distance makes the heart grow fonder because there was no one in the world I was happier to see than my hubby when I came through the gate at the airport.  And the same saying works for where you live.  Despite all of those little things that frustrate me with Fresno, I am so grateful to be living in this city and enjoying the palms and the warmth with Terry.

Who Doesn't Love a Good Rain?

Isn't it funny how it seems the weather will often correlate with your mood or at least how you feel?  As I may have mentioned before I have been battling a wicked cold and have been feeling under the weather, so to honor me and my sniffles Fresno has just developed its first real rain since, I think, since June.  While this may not seem significant to many, it is actually a great development here.

Not only will the rain add to what little reserve we have but it cleans out the air.  I thank God that while my head begins to clear of its enormous pressure the air is clearing also.  I am surprised at how I have become so accustom to having little or no rain.  In the Midwest a rain storm is nothing more than an inconvenience and not thought of more until a barn is lifted off its foundation or a cow flies by.  But I noticed that I ran to the window at the start of this down pour, anxiously wondering if the Japanese garden will be OK.  Really?  A garden having issues with rain? OK?..  I guess I have become a little spoiled with the fair weather here if I am starting to think that this was a true storm. 

In the short time it has taken to write this little post my big worrisome storm has passed by and it is calmly sprinkling again.  I know that friends from the Midwest must be rolling their eyes by now but not to worry I haven't forgotten what real weather is about; I just had a Fresno moment. 

The Grizzlies Game, A Coke and The Fourth of July

Even though I had to work the Fourth it was one of the best I have had in a long time. After spending a year in an area that had very little to do and very little celebrations I was like a kid in a candy store here in Fresno. There were so many choices: BBQ's with the traditional summer fun, fireworks at the park, and a plethora of get-togethers. Terry and I chose our traditional Fourth the Grizzlies' Baseball game.

We were not disappointed...Sacramento River cats vs. Fresno Grizzlies...8th inning and Grizzlies tie it up. It continues through to the 9th then the bottom of the 10th ... at the top....Whop!!!!Homerun for the Grizzlies!!!! The roar of the crowd and the satisfaction of a difficult win under our belt set the stage for the upcoming firework show.

We settled in our seats as the first smaller fireworks lit the sky; red, then blue, white, then orange...it was a beautiful show. They did a wonderful job and the chorography couldn't have been better. The colors popped out in 3D sparks and beams of light drawing closer and closer...an amazing display. I am truly blessed to be an American and to be in such a beautiful city.

This is the life a Diet Coke, Nachos, a winning game and fireworks. . . What more could I ask for . . . oh yeah I live in the USA!
