Postcard Lady Will Travel

Just recently I have received over 70 amazing postcards from National Postcard Week so far.  Between my postcard group on Etsy, Pacific Postcards Team and a Yahoo Club I belong to, The Postcard Collectors Club, I think I have quite a collection.  (come back tomorrow to see more of my new collection)

The whole reason why I fell in love with postcards as a child was my desire to travel.  I would dream of having the ability to travel back in time and the dream that when I grew up I would be able to go anywhere.  I think many kids feel like they are stuck at home and really want to get out and explore.  When I was a child people didn't travel as much and my folks were certainly the non-travelling sort.  A trip North to visit my grandparents, only about 4 hours away, was a big event at that time.

Luckily my maternal grandparents recognized my curiosity and fed me a healthy diet of National Geographic and postcards.  They had traveled quite a bit and I think they didn't want me to lose that desire to explore our World which I haven't.  I have only lived in 2 states but have travelled quite a bit in the last six years.  I have been in California long enough to say I am a Californian but will always carry a little love for my Midwestern roots.

Part of the lure of traveling is to get to know the people from different areas.  I love learning about what makes there hometown's and state's special to them.  We often do day trips but I love the longer trips where you really get to know an area and what it is about.  Most people are very proud of where they grew up or where they are living or both.  I know I am and I would love to here more about your hometown.

First Click your State below and if you want to share your city type it in the blank.   Then post a URL (flicker, etsy, picasa etc.) to where I can retrieve a picture of your home town in the comment section.  It can be a vintage postcard, photo, magazine picture, or one you just took, really any will due, and I will post it in next week's blog.  I only ask that you keep it family friendly and respect copyright laws.  By posting your URL you are giving me to share your picture on this blog and my social media networks.

Also include a little bit about what makes you proud of your hometown (optional.)
