My Fine Feathered Friends

While living in Wisconsin I had a bird garden that I absolutely loved.  I planted flowers that would attract birds and butterflies in my front yard and had many bird feeders and homes.  It was a labor of love and something that I found so completely relaxing and my way of creating some peace.

Unfortunately life has a way of throwing curve balls and I had to move away from my beautiful gardens.  While my traveling has made having any kind of garden, let alone a bird garden, has been next to impossible I had always wanted to start setting up bird feeders again so I could watch my birds.  It is such good stress relief for me and finally after several years of waiting my hubby has set up a few for me.

The fun part is that here in the Palm Springs area there are tons of hummingbirds all year round.  They flit past you as often as bugs do so having hummingbird feeders really pays off.  Here are a few of my most recent shots from my fine feathered friends.

Pictures Say A Thousand Words on Networking Saturday

Pictures Say A Thousand Words, What do Yours Say? One of my shops is filled with postcards, another Digitals so I have it easy and my images are simple.  But when it comes to my vintage books, handmade gift tags etc.  I struggle; pictures with a background or pictures on plain white or black?  I have seen many pictures with a beautifully staged background to match the item but I also see very striking and professional images where the item is on a white background.
So my question of the day is, How do you take your pictures? with a background? without? on black? on white? etc.

Remember if you are looking for the link up there is still 4 days left for this month's, you can find it here: http://www.butterflyintheattic.com/2015/06/just-networking-saturday.html

Forest Fires on Throwback Thursday

Growing up in the 70's/80's, Smokey the Bear was a popular icon.  I love his message and had made it my mission to prevent forest fires. Unfortunately it wasn't until I moved west did I find out what true Forest Fire risk was.  I can only remember one serious fire in Wisconsin the entire time I lived there but here in California every summer you can be guaranteed at least a few.  And since there is so much more open dry land it spreads faster and further.

Fire is on my mind because when I was driving toward Lancaster to work I say the San Bernardino National park for the first time.  We didn't have a chance to stop because I had to be at my destination at a specific time but I told my husband that I wanted to make sure we come back later this year to take pictures.  But the next day it was broadcasted that the park was on fire and still is today.  Very sad.
