There’s something about the last day of September that feels like standing in a doorway.
Behind us are the softer days of early autumn, and just ahead come October mornings, glowing leaves, pumpkins on porches, longer evenings, and all those wonderfully nostalgic little things that make this season feel special.
Here at Butterfly in the Attic, October also means the attic begins to change.
The Halloween treasures come out, autumn colors settle into every corner, old papers and handmade journals seem especially at home, and I find myself reaching for all the warm, weathered, slightly mysterious things I love.
I’ve been busy behind the scenes lately, organizing the shop and giving everything a proper place to live—from the Curiosity Cabinet and Hidden Drawer to the Paper Garden, Maker’s Worktable, and all the other little corners of the attic.
There are new things still to come, too.
For now, though, I’m simply looking forward to October.
