Wait A Minute Mister Postman; Postcard Party 54

Tuesday's Postcard Fun Fact:

Did you know that Benjamin Franklin was our first postmaster?  He accepted the position in 1775 which paid $1,000 a year.  Often we think that due to inflation that this sum of money would be significant, but if he was paid this rate in today's market he would be earning about $30,000. Hopefully he kept his day job too :)

I feel like showing off some of my beautiful girls today:

Members Of The Pacific Postcards Team - Series 73

Welcome to the Pacific Postcards Team Meet and Greet.  We have a great team that had start simply as an Etsy Team but has branched out into Artfire, G+FacebookTwitter and Pinterest.  We would love for you to join are team and help promote New Artistically designed or reproduced postcards, collecting vintage and antique postcards, creating digital art, and anything to do with ephemera and vintage imagery.

First I would like to introduce myself, Colleen (Captain) and Frances (Leader) of the team:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/postcardsintheattic

"First a brief little introduction: I grew up a Midwest farm girl from Wisconsin but through a series of moments of self discovery I have since moved to California and live the city life in the Palm Springs area.  I live in a lovely contemporary home where my husband and I have designed a small but very beautiful Japanese Garden.

Unfortunately, though, the contemporary look does not blend with my passion for vintage and antique Victorian froufrou.  So I have created for myself a virtual world with my shops.  I welcome you to my attic filled with all the treasures found and creations made especially for you..." ~Colleen Cornelius

https://www.etsy.com/shop/MyArtPlace
"I create mixed media, collage, folk art, religious icons, jewelry with a twist, paintings & digital art. Frida Kahlo has long been my muse and some of my art is inspired by her colorful life and paintings. I also enjoy dressing up in costume for any occasion but especially for Day of the Dead, Dia de los Muertos celebrations and of course as Frida.

Hunting for treasures at flea markets, thrift stores and antique shops is also a favorite past time and I often incorporate these objects into my art..." ~Frances Perea

"I was born in Croydon, United Kingdom. I grew up in an artsy environment and at the perfect time for free ideas the 60's no wonder I have always been unconventional. My mother is an accomplished artist and was a promoter of art and craft shows in the UK. My grandmother was a silversmith, historian, and did the most amazing needlework. My father dabbled in antiques and my grandfather was a watchmaker.

While always having an unrelated mindless job I found ways to unleash my true creative spirit through sewing and knitting for my children in the 70's. Making stage clothes for bands and costumes in the 80's and faux painting and restoring furniture in the 90's and buying and selling vintage textiles and clothing and related items through the millennium.

I really enjoy the hunt for antique and vintage clothing and textiles I have had some exquisite pieces over the years. But I strongly believe in re purposing, revamping, remaking, what we have readily available as so many things deserve a second look. I am hoping to expand on that idea in the future.

Oh by the way I am open to reasonable offers........." ~ Diana Leigh

Wait A Minute Mister Postman Postcard Party 53

Tuesday's Postcard Fun Fact:

Lithographs are made from actual photographs utilizing a process called Color Separation.  This technique was developed in Germany, which is why so many of our American scenes say printed in Germany on the back.  Color Separation literally separates the colors in the photograph enabling the printer to print the images using colored dots.  (of course it is more technical than I can intelligently explain but this sums it up in a nutshell)
