Wait A Minute Mister Postman Postcard Party 46

Tuesday's Postcard Fun Fact:

Hold To The Light cards are one of the rarest novelty cards.  These amazing creations started to surface in the late 1800s to very early 1900s.  There are several types of Hold To The Light cards, one of the main techniques were to die cut portions of the top layer and sandwich a transparent tissue paper or film between this layer and the back so when the card is held to a strong light it appears to light up and adds color.  But they could be as complicated as hidden pictures or colors that were only visible when held to the light.  Since these cards are rare they are, of course, priced accordingly and can fetch $35 and up depending on condition and details.

I have no hold to the light cards in my collection :'( so I will show a couple from my fellow Etsians

Members Of The Pacific Postcards Team - Series 67

Welcome to the Pacific Postcards Team Meet and Greet.  We have a great team that had start simply as an Etsy Team but has branched out into Artfire, G+FacebookTwitter and Pinterest.  We would love for you to join are team and help promote New Artistically designed or reproduced postcards, collecting vintage and antique postcards, creating digital art, and anything to do with ephemera and vintage imagery.

First I would like to introduce myself, Colleen (Captain) and Frances (Leader) of the team:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/postcardsintheattic

"First a brief little introduction: I grew up a Midwest farm girl from Wisconsin but through a series of moments of self discovery I have since moved to California and live the city life in the Palm Springs area.  I live in a lovely contemporary home where my husband and I have designed a small but very beautiful Japanese Garden.

Unfortunately, though, the contemporary look does not blend with my passion for vintage and antique Victorian froufrou.  So I have created for myself a virtual world with my shops.  I welcome you to my attic filled with all the treasures found and creations made especially for you..." ~Colleen Cornelius

https://www.etsy.com/shop/MyArtPlace
"I create mixed media, collage, folk art, religious icons, jewelry with a twist, paintings & digital art. Frida Kahlo has long been my muse and some of my art is inspired by her colorful life and paintings. I also enjoy dressing up in costume for any occasion but especially for Day of the Dead, Dia de los Muertos celebrations and of course as Frida.

Hunting for treasures at flea markets, thrift stores and antique shops is also a favorite past time and I often incorporate these objects into my art..." ~Frances Perea

"Welcome to ~Paris in April~ my little French shabby chic garden in the country...
Thank you for purchasing my french country paper goods. My tags are made to order, please allow 7 to 10 days before shipping.

I make, hand cut, tatter, and ink my tags. I love to use tea stained ribbon. They have a lovely shabby chic and french country feel. I offer discounts for larger quantities.

I ship uspo priority box that's why my shipping is $5.00 on larger quantities. I ship
that way so the paper goods have plenty of room and not be squashed during travel. Please feel free to convo me if you have any questions concerning shipping.

Please fill free to convo me with any questions about shipping or if you want a different quantity of any of my gift tags, bags, or rosettes." ~ Rachel

"We will be offering new items daily. We offer fast shipping and great service. Any questions just ask.

I combine postage and/or will refund overpayment of postage.

If shipping doesn't show in the listing, Etsy Support says it will show when the item is added to your cart!! They are running "another" test. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.

If you are purchasing larger or heavy items, the combined postage may exceed the true costs. I will refund the over payment when I print the postage." ~ Ben, Michel, and Tony

"I have been collecting vintage for years! I just love it, having been brought up by parents who were antique collectors. My brother and I would groan on road trips when we would have to stop at yet another antique shop! Little did I know my own children would suffer the same fate. I love perusing the thrift stores, estate sales and auctions. I imagine the former owners of these vintage treasures and try and find out whether there are any clues to their lives by looking at vintage pieces. I believe vintage should be used and loved.

I am really enjoying the Etsy community and love the creativity that is here. In my own home, my favorite thing is to mix styles and periods to create an eclectic look. I try and have a little of everything in my shop, from Victorian through Art Deco era to Mid Century Modern and industrial chic. It makes life interesting. My background is in art, and I love dabbling in watercolor, acrylic, collage and mosaic work. I need to find more time to pursue my passion in this area.

Thank you so much for visiting my shop - I try and add new things weekly." ~Trish

"Hi, I’m Amy. I’ve been thrift-shopping and wandering through flea markets since I was a kid – and since then, I’ve lived in Paris, New York City, San Diego and Cincinnati, adding to my collection as I went along. I live in Portland, Oregon now and am just beginning to discover the history and geography of the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

I especially love old books, prints, photographs and illustrations – there’s just something about the feel of old paper in my hands that connects me with a different time.

I have two Etsy shops:

Route44West - original vintage prints from books and magazines and vintage postcards and photographs

RedBudArt - high-resolution scans of vintage illustrations for use in digital art or crafting

You can find me on Pinterest as AmyBacklund and on Tumblr as RedBudArt. I also share some of the interesting history behind some of the lesser known and under-appreciated artists I come across on my blog: www.redbudart.com" ~Amy
