Today's Wild Side theme is inspired from a
OnThisDay.com message in my inbox. Today in 1888 National Geographic had its beginning. I am sure I am not the only person that tends to take this organization for granted but it has truly impacted so many. It's mission was to "increase and diffusion of geographic knowledge" which I would have to say they have accomplished. I don't know of many Americans that haven't picked up a Nat Geo magazine and thought to themselves "I've got to go their."
I spent hours thumbing through the thick glossy pages of my grandfather's National Geographic Magazines dreaming of traveling across the seas. Even though sometimes frightful they presented so many tantalizing destinations I filled my bucket list a dozen times over.
This gift guide is celebrating the Wild Side of our globe to honor National Geographic who created the travel bug in so many of us.
