Members Of The Pacific Postcards Team - Series 69

Welcome to the Pacific Postcards Team Meet and Greet.  We have a great team that had start simply as an Etsy Team but has branched out into Artfire, G+FacebookTwitter and Pinterest.  We would love for you to join are team and help promote New Artistically designed or reproduced postcards, collecting vintage and antique postcards, creating digital art, and anything to do with ephemera and vintage imagery.

First I would like to introduce myself, Colleen (Captain) and Frances (Leader) of the team:

"First a brief little introduction: I grew up a Midwest farm girl from Wisconsin but through a series of moments of self discovery I have since moved to California and live the city life in the Palm Springs area.  I live in a lovely contemporary home where my husband and I have designed a small but very beautiful Japanese Garden.

Unfortunately, though, the contemporary look does not blend with my passion for vintage and antique Victorian froufrou.  So I have created for myself a virtual world with my shops.  I welcome you to my attic filled with all the treasures found and creations made especially for you..." ~Colleen Cornelius

"I create mixed media, collage, folk art, religious icons, jewelry with a twist, paintings & digital art. Frida Kahlo has long been my muse and some of my art is inspired by her colorful life and paintings. I also enjoy dressing up in costume for any occasion but especially for Day of the Dead, Dia de los Muertos celebrations and of course as Frida.

Hunting for treasures at flea markets, thrift stores and antique shops is also a favorite past time and I often incorporate these objects into my art..." ~Frances Perea

"Subway to the North Star is your place for out of this world Vintage.

Many of my items have been used in film , theater plays , photo shoots and New York store displays :
Robert De Niro used a vintage office accounting book in a recent movie , he was playing a 1920's bookie in the film.
My vintage turban hat was used in a stage production of " Sunset Boulevard." .
Mad Men prop department recently bought a vintage flag lot , to name just a few.

I search for the odd , the unusual , the rusty and the crusty dented worn things that most people ignore . I see these items as having as having character,

I rescue exquisite vintage treasures from dark , cobwebbed corners of the Vintage Universe.
When vintage items speak to me , I go in for the rescue....

If any or all of my vintage treasures speak to you as well , then you are in the right place .
You are having a Subway to the North Star moment.
I am drawn to vintage which is a little battered and dented , a bit rusted and worn , items which have survived time and space.
Strength and survival are qualities I admire .
My vintage shop has many items that speak and say . " I am strong and I survived."
And couldn't you say that about yourself as well ?
That is why I love vintage.

A part of every sale goes to my favorite charities including Doctors Without Borders , Amnesty International and WWF." ~Ann

"Welcome to Galabeer and the Dog! We are a small (but perfectly formed) vintage enterprise based in Sheffield, UK. We hope you enjoy our hand-picked vintage items; each one lovingly sourced, and when re-homed, fondly remembered.

As well as selling on Etsy, we are also lucky enough to have a unit at the fantastic Bird's Yard on Chapel Walk in Sheffield, an independent emporium packed with hand made and vintage goodies. From time to time, we also sell our wares on Ebay, so keep an eye out for us there too.

Our recently improved website offers you a sneak peek at our newest and most coveted stock, as well as general musings and some nice pictures. Why not check it out?

"I am a 63 year old woman who was brought up on a farm in rural Ontario. My grandparents lived right next door and since they didn't have electricity, Grandma had many vintage items in her house. I loved the look of all the old things and so my love of vintage and antique items was born.

Both my mother and grandmother were sewers. I learned to sew on my grandmother's treadle sewing machine. I learned to iron with flatirons, heated on Grandma's woodstove. I have churned butter, carried water to heat in the copper boiler in order to do laundry and done that laundry by scrubbing it on a washboard.

Mom loved creating things and instilled in me a love of crafting. I do ceramics, paper crafting, needlepoint and many other hobbies.

In 1979, I began working for an auction house. I bought and sold vintage items for the retail division of the company. My knowledge of all things antique and vintage items grew in leaps and bounds during that time. It was a job that I loved.

I am an avid collector and a little bit of a pack rat. I love shopping antique shops, estate auctions, fleamarkets and thrift shops. I am never happier than when I come across a great vintage find...treasures in my eyes.

I have sold my handicrafts and vintage items locally for about 25 years and have now decided to extend my enterpreneural skills and sell online.

Nothing makes my day more than when someone smiles when examining my work or one of the antique or vintage items that I stock. Making people smile is my goal in life."  ~Mary
