Annoyed - A Great Heron Story

Today's collection is a series called "Annoyed." This is a series of consecutive photographs taken while a red winged blackbird attacked a much larger Heron at the Chicago Botanical Garden.

Frequently I see these small birds attack much larger birds. Many times the attacks are in midair and I have always wondered what would ever possess them to take on something so threatening. Did a turkey buzzard eat their pa and now they seek revenge? Did a Raven kick their eggs out of nest just to be mean? Really what is it?

What I especially enjoy with this series is that you can clearly see the Heron's response and how annoyed he is by this pest. The last image you can almost see the Heron say "That's Right... Get!" LOL
