Favorite Shop Of The Week - ColibriGift

While building my Meet the Members of the Pacific Postcard Team post I had a revelation. I am going to pick my favorite shop for the week and feature them on both of my Blogs Wednesday. (you can also find this at www.PostcardsInTheAttic.blogspot.com)

This feature is based solely on my own personal tastes and what I enjoyed at the time. I usually find several shops that I just love but one always grabs my attention just a bit more.

I am so amazed at these beautiful and artfully designed cards created by ColibriGift .  The details on each card is amazing and are a gift of their own.  You would need to buy a gift just this card!

Funny Freaky Friday - My Yankees are in the Playoffs!

It isn't freaky but it sure is fun - The Yankees made it to the playoffs!  I was able to catch the game on Tuesday and all though we had a great lead to start with, I held my breath to the end.  I never count my chickens before they hatch and I've seen some crazy things this season, so I was very relieved with the last out on Boston and we won 14 to 2!  I love the tradition of the Yankees and their rich history makes them fun to collect.

So here is some great Yankees Memorabilia I found on Etsy:

Monday Meet and Greet the Members of the Pacific Postcards Team - SavannahSmiles4U

Today's featured Pacific Postcards Team member is Charmaine Buttrill owner of SavannahSmiles4U at http://www.etsy.com/shop/savannahsmiles4u.  This wonderful shop features vintage postcards from Florida.  How fun is that?!  The images from these postcards are exactly why I became hooked on collecting when I was young.  Imagine what it was like for me as a 10 year old girl that lives way out in the frozen tundra of Wisconsin during December thumbing through her postcard collection.  I would get to the ones with scenes like these from Florida and get lost in travel through sandy beaches and tropical palms.  I would dream palm trees, I would sketch palm trees and finally 30+ years later I am finally living in palm trees.

This is one shop you do not want to miss, especially if you have a collection that has a beach theme or is about Florida.  Here is a little bit more about Charmaine Buttrill and her charming shop SavannahSmiles4U from her profile page:

"I love collecting and selling Florida postcards and meeting so many different people on Etsy who also share a fondness for Florida.

Vintage postcards can bring back so many fond memories. I remember as a child the many summers my mom, grandmother, brothers and I would visit tourist attractions that are no longer there. Stopping at a Mom and Pop stand along the way for a cool ice cream cone. Then after a long day of sight seeing we would spend the night at one of the old motels along the way. I remember riding through the Orange Groves and smelling the fragrance of so many orange blossoms! So many pleasant and fond memories of a Florida in the 50's and 60's, and even earlier.

I hope you will enjoy browsing through the many postcards I have listed. I hope they will bring back fond memories for you too!"
~Charmaine Buttrill

They definitely do bring back my fond memories; thank you Charmaine.  I hope you enjoy browsing through this treasury of Charmaine's vintage postcards and make sure you stop by her shop because she has many many more!

Tooting My Own Horn This Friday

Good Friday Morning.  In honor of surviving a really long week I decided to be a little self centered and show off some of my favorite postcards from my store Postcards In The Attic.  I created a treasury featuring all of the illuminated night scene postcards that I have.  They vary quite a bit from age some from the early 1900's and one as young as the 70's or 80's.  They also vary in what kind they are some are Litho, some are Linen, and the youngest of the group is the traditional kind that we see today.  I do think they are lovely and they really make me feel like traveling even at this age.  I hope you enjoy.  Happy Friday Everyone!!!
