Spiritual and Inspirational Sunday - June 10, 2012

Sometimes it is hard for adults to just admit that they haven't changed inside as much as they would like it to appear.  For me it is pretty easy to just openly admit that I am still a child at heart and many things that will bring a smile to a kids face will work the same for me.  So my profound Spiritual and Inspirational Message for today includes a little self searching.

Go back to when you were small enough to really enjoy coloring in a picture book.  Remember how often you would have to use the crayon box that had all the broken and blunt pieces left from everyone else?  You would have to just make due with whatever colors were left and they usually were those funny waxy cheap crayons that made everything look like Easter egg colors.  But most of us at one point in time of our childhood had the privilege of receiving at least one brand new 64 count box of Crayola brand Crayons in their life (with built in sharpener.)

I can remember sitting in the back seat of our large GMC carefully opening the holly grail of Crayon boxes.  Each tip perfectly sharpened to a point ready to do whatever my hand willed them to.   I started to dream of the artwork that I would create, how with this simple box of 64 Crayons I could become the next Picasso and my life would be an amazing adventure colors and fame.  The entire trip home I was lost in deep thought over my new possession and it lasted for days.  I was almost too scared to use them, I never wanted to dull the tiny tips and lose that moment of complete and total inspiration they were giving me.

God gives us a brand new box of 64 count Crayola Crayons each and every morning.  We wake up, open our eyes, and presented before us is a brand new day full of endless possibilities and inspirations.  Each and every tip is sharp and ready for your masterpiece; you have every color needed, nothing is missing and there is no limitation except for those that you set for yourself. 

Remember back to the day when your pallet was full and the excitement would swell up within you ready to burst out into a rainbow of colors.  I know that I want to greet each day like I just received a new box of 64 count Crayola Crayons; how about you?
