National Postcard Week begins, this year, on May 5th - May 11th.  It is a chance for postcard-aholics and postcard-nuts alike to display there collections, talk nonstop about postcards, buy postcards, send postcards, and create postcards without friends and loved ones looking at them as they are crazy.  Actually I think maybe some people still think I am crazy but I can just fall back on, "It's NPCW."  One thing that many of us may not think about is upcycling postcards.

Upcycled Crafts - A Fun DIY Day

Coming from the Midwest I certainly can emphasis with those living back East and going through the monstrous snow storm.  I can remember that while it was a pain I did enjoy the fact that I could excuse myself from work and my kids from school without having to be sick.  Of course as crafters we were always well supply just for those occasions and would immediately plan our day of activities.  So I pray that everyone going through the storm will be safe and comfortable in their homes or place of choice.



I collected a wonderful selection of projects using materials that are maybe around your house already and that involves some upcycling.  Since I am in sunny Cali now, I have no excuse (that I can think of) to stay home and play with glue, so I will have to plan it for another day.   I hope you enjoy the selection.

Upcycle your old glass containers into usable vases

Upcycled and Recycled on Etsy - Winter Blues

No matter where I live and no matter how sunny or warm the place is, I seem to have a period of time where I get the winter blues.  I have come to theorize that it is the short days and the minimal amount of sunlight that I get during the long month of January that does me in.  It has helped moving West but once again I feel that cabin fever and the the-holidays-are-over and its-12-weeks-until-spring-training blues.  At least I know it will pass and with spring just around the corner I am optimistic that I will survive.

And just as always I will try to create my cosy little virtual world (one that is found in an unending summer) and feature some of the Blues found on Etsy this morning:)  Enjoy
